Hello everyone!

 

Foodshare is happy to host: Local Food=Local Land:   community models and
engagement to protect food producing lands.

 

 

Please feel free to attend and also, Please share this widely!   This is a
community event, and open to all  .

 

April 27th from 7-9.  

 

NACL building #201-96 Cavan St.   (On the corner of Cavan and Victoria Cres,
across from the Firehouse Grill)

 

The goal of the event is to help the community to understand the issues
related to conserving/preserving farmland and food producing lands as well
as to engage the community in moving towards action in increasing land
available locally for food production/harvest

 

 

1.       Agenda:

 

30 minutes          Panel presentations:  Richard Bullock (Past Chair of the
ALR); Heather Pritchard (Foodlands Project, Farm Folk City Folk) and Harold
Steves (Founder of ALR, Richmond City Councillor, farmer)     10 minutes
each presentation 

 

20 minutes          Q & A- moderated question and answer 

 

30 minutes          Break into interest groups --  ALR (Richard),
Foodlands(Heather),  Municipal/provincial political strategies from
grassroots movements (Harold)

                                                Focus question:  how Nanaimo
can engage in increasing available foodlands in the region

 

 

15 minutes          Report Back to the group  

 

15 minutes          Summaries from the panelists

 

10 minutes          Next Steps-
