I just wanted to make an announcement about a new federal funding program,
in case people on this listserv haven't heard about it yet. I was on a
conference call about it this morning.

The federal government wants to establish more "Living Laboratories" across
the country. They are looking for an NGO to assemble a team of people to
facilitate farming that focuses on storing carbon in the soil. There isn't
a Living Laboratory in BC yet, although there are in other provinces. This
grant is meant to establish new ones, and provinces without existing ones
will get priority.

Agriculture and Agri Food Canada is looking for an NGO to apply for a $10M
grant to do this. The first stage is to apply for a $100K grant to make the
$10M grant application with. The first stage is meant to fund development
of the research/activity program. That includes putting together the team
of people who will make projects happen. The deadline for the first stage
application will be around June 15.

Here's a link to the program:

There will be an information session on April 7 about the initiative for
people in BC. Email an expression of interest to the address on the site
above to be invited.

I'm excited to see who is able to apply and what we can make out of this! I
would be happy to join in a team or help write the grant, especially if
there is interest in mitigating methane output from cattle.

All the best,
James Douglas
