Greetings

In the next few weeks, you have an opportunity to make your views known to
the Legislature Select Standing Committee on Agriculture, Fish and Food
which will be visiting various locations in BC to hear from members of the
public about what you think currently works well in the local meat
production industry and what could be improved. See information below.

Questions about demand and supply of BC meat - and how these are addressed
by government - are important because livestock production and processing
are key parts of our foodscapes, and many farm and food businesses derive
their livelihood from the meat sector.

Thanks for considering this!

Kathleen Gibson

The newly established all-party Select Standing Committee is responsible
for examining matters concerning agriculture, fish and food in British
Columbia, and its first inquiry will focus on local meat production and
inspection in BC. The consultation is based on information and questions
outlined in a discussion paper

which was referred to the Committee on April 24, 2018.

You can make a presentation at a public hearing, make a written, audio or
video submission, or complete an online survey. You can register online for
the public hearings through the Committee’s consultation portal, which is
available, along with further information about the consultation, through
the Committee’s website: www.leg.bc.ca/cmt/aff.

Public hearing locations and dates are as follows:

Prince George (June 5)

Terrace (June 5)
