Hello all
Jen Fisher-Bradley President Women's Food and Water Initiative here.
We're organizing and co-sponsoring with Alberni Valley Transition Towns Society the Alberni Valley Seedy Saturday event this Saturday in a new uptown venue.

We hope it's a big success and becomes an annual agritourism event. We got some help from Quality Foods and sounds like the regional district may help us with a grant next year.

So we want to have a petition handy for folks to sign calling for a water assistance program funded by the provincial government. The beneficiaries of this fund are urban farmers who get their water from municipalities. The municipalities would supply water needed for growing local food during the spring, summer and fall season at no cost to the farmers. The province will reimburse the municipalities for the lost revenue.

If food.security and growing local is to be taken seriously this adaptation must take place. Drought is trending and our established food systems hover on the edge of viability. We must prepare for the inevitable.

So I am looking for a collaborative process with food systems folks to help me word the petition. We need this by tomorrow afternoon so we can print some.copies to put out for signing.

Thanks for your help, Jen Fisher-Bradley
