Been saving these up for a while!

>From the International Institute on Sustainable Development: The 25th session of the Committee on Agriculture (COAG25) endorsed the Voluntary Guidelines for Sustainable Soil Management (VGSSM). The VGSSM contains a series of recommendations (based on scientific evidence) that aim to guide the application of sustainable soil management principles and practices at all levels. After its final approval by the FAO Council in December 2016, the guidelines are expected to be the global reference to guide sustainable soil management interventions. http://www.fao.org/documents/card/en/c/0549ec19-2d49-4cfb-9b96-bfbbc7cc40bc/

>From Anthropocene: A novel approach to pesticide-free, non-GMO food? Not only could this approach make agriculture more sustainable, Kogel says, but scientists can produce these RNAs for the sprays in a question of weeks, whereas engineering a plant that is genetically modified to produce that RNA could take years.

William Tracy is one of only two sweetcorn breeders left in the US public sector. He describes how he is helping to grow a new generation of seed specialists as endowed chair at the University of Wisconsin–Madison — the first such position in the United States to focus on organic seed breeding. http://www.nature.com/naturejobs/science/articles/10.1038/nj7626-545a

The word Adamah is rooted in the Hebrew language (Adam – man, Adamah – earth) and is interpreted as the “land from which man was made”. At its roots lies the recognition of our species intrinsic connection to the earth and the inherent responsibility to protect and sustain it.
