[BCFSN] CORRECTION: Young Agrarians Winter Farmer Mixers - Okanagan & Vancouver Island

[Vancouver Island Young Agrarians]

Apologies for double posting: I had wanted to send info about our two
upcoming Farmer Mixers in January to this list this morning - they will
take place in the Okanagan and on Vancouver Island. Please read on for more
info!


Calling all new and young(ish and at heart) farmers, and
want-to-be-farmers! Folks from across the province will be gathering at two
regional Young Agrarians Winter Mixers in January 2017. Join in on
Vancouver Island or the Okanagan for two full days bursting with
information, skills sharing, networking and phenomenal foods.

Get inspired, sharpen your farm skills, and build connections with other
new farmers. You will learn about holistic land management, indigenous land
and food systems, crop planning, business and financial management, land
leasing, and so much more!

Okanagan Winter Mixer:

When: Saturday, January 21 - Sunday, January 22,  2017

Where: Syilx Territory - Okanagan Mission Community Hall, 4409 Lakeshore

Cost: Sliding scale $50-100. Work trades are available.

Vancouver Island Winter Mixer:

When: Saturday, January 28 -  Sunday, January 29, 2017

Where: Coast Salish Territory - Camp Pringle, Shawnigan Lake, 2520 West
Shawnigan Lake Rd, Shawnigan Lake, BC

Cost: Sliding scale $75-150. Work trades are available.

Both events are open to the public. The range of sessions will appeal to
everybody with an interest in maintaining and preserving the local food
system, including farmers, homesteaders and gardeners. “YA Mixers provide a
great excuse for getting together with other farmers to learn, socialize,
and share resources during the dark days of winter.” Tristan Cavers, Golden
Ears Farm (Chase, BC).

Can’t come to the whole event? Join in at the Saturday Night Community
Potluck!

At each Mixer, on Saturday night a Community Potluck will be held. The
Potluck is free and open to all ages - just bring a dish to share. Invite
