The Small-Scale Meat Producers Association is conducting a comprehensive
survey <https://smallscalemeat.ca/survey/> of small to medium-scale meat
producers in BC.

SSMPA is a producer-led non-profit organization working to offer advocacy
and resources for self-identifying “small-scale” meat producers in BC. The
survey was developed by a team of over twenty producers from across the
province (including the association’s board members and representatives for
each regional district) to capture key information to fill an essential
information gap about the sector.

This survey will help us quantify the number of small to medium producers,
our impact on the local economy, and both the opportunities and the
barriers we face. This information will help SSMPA prioritize its work and
also demonstrate to decision-makers, in hard terms, what is needed for this
sector to thrive in BC.

All producers who sell their meat products direct-to-consumer are invited
to participate in the survey - one response per operation. Ideally, SSMPA
would like to see every current operation participate, as well as those who
have stopped producing meat in the past five years.

Farmers and ranchers who are unsure if the survey is relevant to them
should go ahead and start it - if it’s asking questions that matter to you,

$25 of fencing supplies!*

SSMPA has gone to great lengths to ensure the responses and the subsequent
reports will be strictly anonymous. This is important because the survey
does ask sensitive questions to explore issues that have historically been
unacknowledged and gone unaddressed.
