  FOOD IN ITALY: SUSTAINABLE MARKETS, PRODUCTS, AND PROCESSES This study
program will assist students in understanding sustainable food supply
chains in Italy through the study of its markets, products and processes.
In this program, the integration of coursework, fieldwork, and projects
affords participants a unique perspective for engaging Italy. This
engagement is driven by personal experience in markets, neighborhoods, and
rural areas as well as reflection on important and timely academic issues
of sustainability.

*PROGRAM DATES*
September 6 - December 14, 2019

Sustainable Development Goals: Sustainability & Food Systems
Nutrition and the Mediterranean Diet
Sustainable Food Business and Marketing in Italy
Food Production: Olive Oil and Wine
Italian Language

*OPTIONAL ACADEMIC INTERNSHIP*

Customized placements and research projects. Gain an international working
experience and skills needed for students' future careers and academic
plans. The internship will take place during the program.

*ELIGIBILITY*
The program is open to students from all majors. No prior study on food
systems and sustainability required.
Scholars, researchers & professionals interested in food studies, food
systems, sustainability & related fields are also encouraged to inquire.

*COST*
$13395 - $14044 (May vary depending on exchange rates)

The program cost includes instructional fees, shared housing,
transportation to excursions, accommodations during excursions,
pre-departure guidance, on-site safety and cultural orientation, cell phone
with an Italian Sim card, city transportation card, 24/7 emergency phone
support, welcome and farewell meals, some meals and tastings during visits
and excursions, reading materials, record of Study and re-entry support.

*APPLICATION DEADLINE*
Recommended deadline is April 30, 2019.  However, applicants are encouraged
to apply as soon as possible, as there are several advantages to doing so
including receipt of an admissions decision early enough to allow for
sufficient travel planning time to save on airline tickets and sufficient
visa processing time for international students.
