Interesting, I received a survey today created by the U of MB regarding opinions on Canada's Supply
Management/Quota system and how farmers should be compensated if it is repealed. An option is for a
proposal for a temporary tax on dairy and poultry to last 10 years to compensate farmers for loss of
quota assets (which apparently on average are worth $280 million). After 10 years I guess they
assume the market will have corrected itself and farmers will have sunk or survived.

"Dear member of the Probit research panel, We are inviting you to participate in a study about food
policy. The results from this survey will be shared with policy makers who are currently making
decisions about Canada's future."

"In this study, participants were randomly assigned to receive a different set of information on
effects of Canadian agricultural and food policies. The purpose of this study is to understand the
determinants of support for agricultural and food policies in Canada, and how more information
affects support.

The results of this research will be available to interested parties after all data has been
collected and analysed, tentatively by December of 2019."

I can't share the survey but if anyone has any questions or would like to know more about it (you
can receive a summary of the research results as well), contact the project researchers below:

The word Adamah is rooted in the Hebrew language (Adam - man, Adamah - earth) and is interpreted as
the "land from which man was made". At its roots lies the recognition of our species intrinsic
connection to the earth and the inherent responsibility to protect and sustain it.
