Hello all,
this article
<https://trevorhancock.org/2017/03/15/toward-a-bc-framework-for-wellbeing/>
written for the Times Colonist by Dr Trevor Hancock is a great review of
how we can refocus on well-being over economic goals. I am confident that
there is general agreement on this listserve that wellbeing has a strong
link to good food and healthy lands and waters that support us all. The
article is articulate, accessible and well worth a read. Dr Hancock is a
Professor and Senior Scholar at the University of Victoria's School of
Public Health and Social Policy. He writes a weekly column on healthy
people, healthy communities and a healthy planet, archived on his website
here <https://trevorhancock.org>.

And please note that his article describes an initiative currently underway
that seeks input from communities on what would, in fact, contribute to our
communal well-being. The initiative is being led by Board Voice
<http://boardvoice.ca/public/>, an organization comprised of the volunteer
boards of community-based social service agencies in BC that is dedicated
to creating a clear and effective voice for high-quality social services
and strong, vibrant communities. More about the Social Policy Framework
Project and the communities identified for consultations can be found here

.

in good food,
Abra

"Rather than concentrating on what sort of food is healthy for the
individual person, we must think about what kind of production system is
healthy for the globe. Acting in the context of this vision of a different
kind of food system, we will gain the freedom - and the power - to force
change for some measure of justice in this one." Cathleen Kneen, 1987
