There are some very interesting events coming up as part of the Indian
Summer festival in Vancouver. In particular for this group an evening with
Vandana Shiva in conversation with Elizabeth May on July 14th may be of

The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Border Crossings’. Borders are the
point of passage from one region to another – spaces that are often fraught
with pressure, but also form gateways into new worlds and experiences.

As humans, our differences are more than just geographic. To interact with
one another, we need to build connections between many ways of life and
across racial, sexual, linguistic divides. The events at this year’s Indian
Summer Festival will explore how navigating these boundaries can be tense
and frightening, but also cause for excitement, learning, and joy.

festival.

The Indian Summer Festival believes in showcasing ideas; focusing on the
most innovative and inspiring creative work no matter what medium it is
expressed in.  This year we will feature work by visionaries in a myriad of
realms, from food security to sufi music, sexual politics to Indo-Mexican
pop culture.
