    Although I know  I should have been prepared for the news, I wasn't. It"s still a shock. My soul weeps as - once again -I am reminded of how little time I have on this earth and how important it is to spend it wisely. Thank you Cathleen for showing me how. My heart goes out to the family and yes there will be many gatherings and many opportunities to remember our beloved Cathleen.

Hello all,
As was communicated earlier, the woman who brought us together to found the Network, Cathleen Kneen, has been struggling with cancer. 
She asked me to come visit and I arrived in Ottawa in time to read to her the notes and messages of love sent by so many. She died early this morning.

There will be a small ceremony in Ottawa later this week. The family knows that there will be events held in various parts of the country over time, as the many who loved and respected Cathleen come together to celebrate her and to support each other. The Gathering of the BC Food Systems Network will hold some sort of a circle for Cathleen this year, of course.

If you want to reach out to Brewster or any of the family, it is best done by email, as this can be managed and responded to as and when the family feels able to.

Now we will all have to adjust to a world without that warm voice, wonderful laugh and boundless wisdom in service of community and people. She brought out the best in each of us and helped us understand the role we each can play in nourishing our communities.
