The BC Farmers' Markets Conference

coming up March
3-5th, 2017 in New Westminster and we are looking for conference workshop
proposals.
We are requesting

conference workshop proposals and invite you to share your expertise,
experience, and passion with the BC Farmers' Markets community.
We are accepting workshop proposals until *Monday, December 19, 2016*.
Workshop Details We are seeking vibrant and inspiring workshops to offer at
the conference. Workshop sessions will run for 75 minutes. Between 25-60
people will attend each session. We welcome a variety of workshop formats,
including panels, interactive sessions or individual presentations.

Topics of Interest The 2017 conference theme this year is "Farmers' Markets
For All." We will accept proposals that are aligned with that theme, as
well as other topics geared towards market managers, board members, farmers
and other markets vendors. Please see below for workshop topic ideas.
Workshops outside of these topics will also be considered.

- Vendor recruitment, balance and retention
- Best practices in market management
- Community and stakeholder engagement
- Emergency planning/issues management
- Growing small and rural farmers' markets
- Best practices in social media
- Supporting vendor development
- Tech innovations for farmers' market success
Farmers, Small Scale Food Processors, Artisans - Market Vendors!
- Creating a winning farmers' market booth display
- The Do's and Don'ts of customer service
- Merchandising and pricing
- Record keeping to track success - production and sales
- Food and farm safety
- Labeling, pricing, and merchandising
- Innovation and tech to support the small farm/business
- Marketing and social media
Compensation We are a non-profit organization and do our best to keep
conference expenses as low as possible. We value the skills and expertise
of our presenters. The following are potentially available to support your
presentation:
- One free conference registration for the first presenter and a
discount for additional presenters
- Modest honorarium or trade show space
- Limited reimbursement of travel costs
