The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) Population & Public Health has published a new report for food security stakeholders, Agriculture's Connection to Health: A Summary of the Evidence Relevant to British Columbia<http://www.phsa.ca/population-public-health-site/Documents/AgConnectiontoHealth_FullReport_April2016.pdf>.

The report summarizes the current available evidence on topics such as how agriculture influences food choices, the physical environment, economic opportunities, and food self-sufficiency. It also looks at how climate change may affect BC agriculture in the future.

As a companion to the review, PHSA has also created a short document<http://www.phsa.ca/population-public-health-site/Documents/Ag%20connection%20to%20health_Responding%20to%20local%20governments.pdf> to assist health authorities when responding to local governments' requests on agriculture's connection to health. While this document is targeted to the health authorities, others working with local governments on agriculture issues might find the information useful.

The full report, the executive summary and the companion document are available on the Food Security page of www.phsa.ca/populationhealth<http://www.phsa.ca/populationhealth> and on the BC Food Security Gateway<http://bcfoodsecuritygateway.ca/> along with other food security resources.

This was a collaborative project that engaged researchers, health authority staff, the BCFSN and local government planners.
