Hi All,

Please spread this primer far and wide within your communities, and policy
circles. It needs to reach every member of the colonial and tribal
governments. There may be a new colonial government but they are still
working within the same structures and processes, and they need to be held
responsible.

There is still lots of work to do to protect the remaining fragments of our
bio-cultural heritage in the land and food system, and we need people of
all creeds and cultures to stand strong in solidarity with Indigenous
peoples, in these critically powerful times of transformation and change.

Excerpt taken from the chapter I wrote titled: Indigenous Food Sovereignty
a Model for Social Learning in the book Food Sovereignty in Canada: Towards
a Just and Sustainable Food System.

"Everyone is to blame, and everyone is responsible for reconciling past
social and environmental injustices that happened to Indigenous peoples in
the land and food system. This shift will require evening out power
imbalances that exist in oppressive land regimes imposed by colonial
governments, by counteracting the tyranny of an imperialistic rights based
strategy with a strategy that promotes corporate social and environmental
responsibility and respectful relationships between Indigenous peoples, and
settler peoples and their governments"

Here is a link to an inspirational song that captures the essence of the
movement really well.
