There is compelling evidence that healthy school food programs have the
potential to improve students' diets, academic performance and social
functioning, and also impact their long-term health. As part of the School
Food Programs series to raise the profile of promising and innovative
school food program models in Canada, join us to learn how school food
programs in Manitoba and BC are successfully making the school lunchroom
healthier through fruits and vegetables programs.

EXPLORING PARTICIPATORY RESEARCH PART 2: VARIETY TRIALING & RECORD KEEPING

 Crops and farms, and the interaction between the two, are deeply complex
systems. Often times, seeds are trialed at research stations and under
optimal conditions which may be quite different from your own farm. On-farm
trialing is an effective way of comparing varieties to find out which may
be a good fit for your operation. (Beware: record keeping is a must if
you're trialing varieties!) Join panelists for a discussion of best
practices and their experiences in the field. Hosted by The Bauta Family
Initiative on Canadian Seed Security, as part of its series "Seed Systems:

With more than $30 millions invested by the provincial governement and
funding from the municipal level, Ontario's school food program is the
biggest in Canada. As part of the School Food Programs series to raise the
profile of promising and innovative school food program models in Canada,
join us to look at the model of this program and next steps in order to
move forward in response to the Healthy Kids Strategy recommendations.
