BCFSN members and friends,

The WCEL-assisted messages to the premier, ministers and MLAs increased
remarkably from Tuesday to Friday last week. In almost two months up to that
period, 1901 people had used the West Coast Environmental Law response aid
to express opposition to Bill 24, the bill to kill the ALR. In that
three-day period, their numbers increased to 2841. That¹s an increase of
around 50% in only three days. You can read about it at
http://wp.me/s97QM-deluge.

I expect to receive another update around midday Monday. The key factor in
whether the momentum continues will be your participation, especially by
encouraging your family, friends and networks to respond. Also, if anyone
hasn¹t acted via ³Hands off our food security
<http://wcel.org/resources/environmental-law-alert/tell-bc-government-hands-
our-food-security> ² yet, please start with that step.

Besides affecting ministers/MLAs directly, the response will be used in the
form of statistics in the ³debate² on the current Bill 24 motion. (In its
effect, it is a motion to consult widely before proceeding with the bill.)
That will be on Monday, as well as on Tuesday if debate hasn¹t been cut off.

Regards,

Caution: Predictably, Norm Letnick and his handlers are playing the
³resistance is future² card. That message is only true for those who heed
it. Some MLAs whose email boxes are filling up with opposition are going to
think twice about being forced to vote for the bill, and that¹s a wedge we
need. Their numbers could include the premier and relevant ministers, since
they won¹t have heard a lot of pro-Bill 24 support at their gathering in
Kelowna.
