Connecting Rural BC is of utmost value these days - I've attended many of
these conferences and gain much knowledge that i've then shared within our
local community and beyond.

 *Reminder -* *The 2014 Rural Summit will take place in Beautiful Kaslo.  *The
British Columbia Rural Network is pleased to announce that the 2014 8th BC

*Grants and Opportunities for Rural Communities *



*New -* Evergreen Canon Take Root Program  - Deadline is June 6th -
Supporting stewardship and restoration projects, the Take Root Program will
provide $5,000 and a Canon camera to 30 community groups across Canada to
carry out a tree-planting projects in the 2014 Fall planting season,
planting a minimum of 250 native trees and shrubs. For information and to

*New -* Funding for Child Care Spaces - Deadline June 30th - Major Capital
Funding is available to help with the costs associated with the creation of
new licensed child care spaces. Under this program, non-profit child care
organization may receive up to a maximum of $500,000 and private sector
child care organizations may receive up to a maximum of $250,000 click here

This section is based on youth input from the *Rural Youth Diversity
Project 2014*. Youth participants identified areas of need in their
communities.  The following grants are based on these identified needs.
 The "Grants and Opportunities for Youth" will be featured in upcoming BCRN
eNews.  Please send any grants or opportunities for youth to

*New* - *BC Youth in Agriculture* - Non profit organizations are able to
apply for funding to aid in initiatives involving youth in agriculture. The
Foundation supports development of leadership in agriculture, strengthening
of communities, and agriculture education. For the application form - click

*New* - *The Get Youth Working! Program* is extended for new hires with
a start date on or after April 1st, 2014.  The Get Youth Working! Program
is funded through the Canada-British Columbia Labour Market Agreement. The
Program offers employers a $2,800 hiring incentive (up to 3 employees at
$2,800 each) to hire eligible youth 15 to 29 years of age. Additionally,
employers may request up to $1,000 to purchase training for the newly hired

*New* - In 2007, the *Epicure Foundation* created the Community Initiative
National Grant Program to support grassroots organizations working to
improve food security across Canada. Our goal is to ensure that all
Canadians have access to resources and education to prepare nourishing

*New -** enviroFund *Local Food Project Grants: Building a sustainable
local food system.   There are growing concerns about disappearing
farmland, depleted wild salmon populations, inequities in food
distribution, the rise of a fast-food culture, and the carbon footprint of
food.  Sustainable food production provides economic, social, and

Contributions Program,* is administered by Citizenship and Immigration

individuals and communities and helping them to contribute to building an
