[BCFSN] URGENT Comment on ALR Regulations Close August 22, Have Your Say Now!

Thanks, Theresa,

Deadline for survey responses:
It is NOON on August 22. After seeing the different deadline in today¹s
BCFSN message, I talked to the excellent project coordinator, Natasha
Thambirajah, in case the deadline had changed. She confirmed that it is
still NOON.

Replacement responses:
Also, after seeing the excellent BCFSN analysis, some people may wish they
had responded to the online survey differently. If you are self-identifying
at the beginning of the survey, you can send a new version and indicate in
the ³additional comments² field at the end that it¹s a replacement (and
Natasha says that will work well).

Sending lots of responses:
It¹s important to respond in large numbers. We will then tend to offset Pat
Pimm¹s campaign (aiming for 300-500 supporters echoing his responses) even
though we¹re not all saying the same thing.

Bye for now,
Jim Wright

Subject: [BCFSN] URGENT Comment on ALR Regulations Close August 22, Have
Your Say Now!

Friends,

There are just days left to comment on proposals for regulations under the
Agricultural Land Commission Act.

The provincial government is proceeding full speed ahead with proposals for
regulatory change to the newly amended Agricultural Land Commission Act.
Until close of day August 22 you have an opportunity to comment on these
matters on the government website:

http://engage.gov.bc.ca/landreserve/

You will need to read the consultation document and are also welcome to
refer to the responses offered by the BC Food Systems Network delegation as
summarized on the BCFSN website:

http://bcfsn.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/BC-Food-Systems-Network-ALC-Act-
Regs-questionnaire-responses.pdf

Please be aware that the purpose of the questionnaire is to gather input on
activities in the ALR for which an application to the Agricultural Land
Commission is not, or would not be, required. You will need to distinguish
your liking for an idea with liking (or not liking) to exclude the ALC. We
suggest you make that distinction, where you need to, in the ³why² section
after the question.

Any additional matters or concerns you wish to raise can be added at the
end.

We understand that the new Commissioners and regional panels and probably
the new regulations as well will be in place by the end of September.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to direct them to
admin at bcfsn.org.

Best Regards,
Theresa, BCFSN Communications Coordinator
